Beautiful Lake Bled, Slovenia
Tucked away in the Julian Alps of Slovenia is easily one of my favorite places in the world, Lake Bled. Situated on a preternatural blue lake of glacial water, the sleepy town of Bled invites people from all over the region to partake of its wonderful restaurants, vistas, and lakeside entertainment. Journey up to the castle on high on the mountainside for a spectacular view or head over to Grajsko kopališče, Bled’s expansive swimming area. If that’s not enough there is mountainside tobogganing, horseback riding, hiking, mountaineering, caving, paragliding, and even mini-golf! Bled is the best of both worlds. You can go when you just want to relax and take a stroll along the lake or you can spend your time seeking high adventure.
We had an awesome time there and didn’t want to leave. In fact, we’re even talking about going back next summer. If you make it there, you MUST try the local honey liquor. It’s amazing!

Thanks for the comment Amanda!! Funny thing is we knew nothing about Lake Bled until we got there. Josh had heard about this cool lake town in Slovenia and since it would be a new country for us we though it would be fun to spend a night there. Boy were we disappointed when we got there and realized we only had a day and a half! I mean we had seen pictures but we were totally blown away by the real thing. I could spend a whole week there as small as it is. The water is coooooold but if you grew up swimming in lakes and rivers like I did you’ll manage lol.
